About CrossFit 1013
I started CrossFitting back in July 2008. A Friend told me about it when I was severely out of shape. I gave CrossFit a try and I have been hooked ever since. I became a trainer in 2010 and trained at CrossFit Roselle. I also ran the CrossFit Kids program in Roselle. My wife Liliana became a trainer in 2011 and started training at CrossFit Roselle as well. Back in September 2012 we decided it was time for us to open up our own gym. We were trying to come up with a name and thought about our daughter who had passed away about 5 years ago. She was severely handicapped. She was in a bad car accident when she was 1 month old causing her sever brain damage. She passed away at the age of 16. She was a very strong little girl going through all the physical pain she went through throughout her life along with the surgeries. So we decided to make our logo based on what she represents a tough angel and we named the gym after her birthday. October 13th. We are on our second location now and still growing.
How has WODHOPPER improved the management of CrossFit 1013?
WODHOPPER has been a great tool to have at our gym. It helps us so much with so many important tasks with the gym. More importantly, tasks like billing and collecting membership dues. I can easily look at my membership on a daily basis and quickly have a detailed understanding of the financial status of my gym. I can easily track member attendance and with their risk-and-retention report I can get a quick view of members that haven’t been in the gym and send them an email with the tap of my finger. It is great to also display WOD results immediately online via the WODHOPPER scoreboard. Having WODHOPPER on the iPad puts my entire business at my finger tips.
How would you describe WODHOPPER’s support and service?
The WODHOPPER team have been great and real easy to work with. They are very accommodating and listen to my concerns and suggestions.
When I first opened my gym my biggest concern was how I was going to manage my members and billing. WODHOPPER has totally taken that concern out of the equation for me allowing me to concentrate more on building my gym and training my members. We ran a GroupOn promotion and WODHOPPER was huge in helping us keep track of GroupOn members and their sessions. Glad we have WODHOPPER as our business partner.
About CrossFit VisOne
CrossFit VisOne opened on August 15, 2011 in Cherry Valley, IL. VisOne is home to Elite Games Competitor Brandon Pastorek and Tosha Jeffries. Brandon placed 21st in the men’s individual 2011 Rebook CrossFit Games, 1st in the men’s individual 2011 CrossFit North Central Region, 9th place team member in the 2010 CrossFit Games, and 27th in the men’s individual 2009 CrossFit Games. Tosha placed 10th in the women’s individual 2012 CrossFit North Central Region, 12th in the women’s individual 2011 CrossFit North Central Region, 9th place team member in the 2010 CrossFit Games.
We first met the WODHOPPER team in Colorado at the 2010 USAW competition. During the process of opening CrossFit VisOne we knew we needed a software system to help us with member management, automated billing, attendance tracking, WOD Tracking, and financial management. We also knew we needed the system to be extremely user friendly and straight forward. We didn’t want to spend our time managing the software we wanted to spend it coaching our athletes. WODHOPPER met all of our needs and with its intuitive design we knew we needed WODHOPPER to help us run our CrossFit business!

How has WODHOPPER improved the management of CrossFit VisOne?
WODHOPPER has helped us manage our gym in many ways. First and foremost, they have always listened to our ideas and incorporated them into the product in a timely manner. They really do value customer feedback and incorporate it into their product. They also have an easy RSVP feature which helps me plan for who is attending and how I need to prepare for the WOD. Athletes can also log their WOD scores and track benchmarks making all this information available at my finger tips.

How would you describe WODHOPPER’s support and service?
WODHOPPER has incredible support and service. My favorite support story is that I needed to speak to one of their team members late on a Thursday evening. After sharing the issue I was experiencing and WODHOPPER explaining how to fix it, I realized it was after nine o’clock in the evening. I have a great relationship with the team member and after he helped me resolve the issue we were chatting a bit longer and it came up that he was out with his wife on her birthday!! He took my call to help me even during his wife’s birthday evening. Now that is support!
WODHOPPER is alive with features and they are constantly enhancing the system and keeping it simple to use. They have a fantastic team! Then entire system and financial management components making running our gym easy and organized.
About CrossFit Dubuque
Phil Gothard and Mike Thompson started out by doing CrossFit workouts at a regular globo gym. Their passion for fitness and desire to open a business and share the results with others drove them to open a CrossFit affiliate. Like many affiliate owners, they searched for the right place, right name, and logo. In November of 2011 CrossFit Dubuque opened its doors. Their first foundations class had 7 members. With word of mouth, advertising in local papers, and social media they have grown CrossFit Dubuque to 90 athletes in a year.
How has WODHOPPER improved the management of CrossFit Dubuque?
We first started out using another administrative solution and had a terrible time with it. We were never sure if members payments ran because of problems with their payment processing and we had to manually check each member every month or else we would lose money. The system is not built specifically for CrossFit like WODHOPPER is. WODHOPPER makes it idiot-proof when it comes to managing our members and I can now spend my attention on the reason I opened up a CrossFit gym – coaching my athletes! WODHOPPER is simple; the whole thing runs on an iPad, it’s completely paperless, members have access to mobile components, and everything can be handled in a matter of seconds.
How would you describe WODHOPPER’s service and support?
The service and support from the WODHOPPER crew is great! When we need something I can email or call a real person who can figure it out in minutes. Most of the time it’s just something I didn’t know about (user error), but when it’s something else, it’s done in a matter of minutes. I never got that kind of quick resolution with the previous administrative system. Plus, it’s exciting when the WODHOPPER team is constantly coming out with upgrades and adding new features. I’ve never had a question that wasn’t answered or an issue that wasn’t resolved quickly.
The system really is made by CrossFitters for CrossFit. It doesn’t make sense to NOT use it.
How has the benchmark and daily WOD tracking / leader board benefited your athletes?
The benchmark tracking and leader board is a big hit with CrossFit Dubuque athletes! It’s always useful to have data, whether it be to urge intensity in the workouts because you’re gunning for someone you want to beat that day, or whether it’s to have a realistic goal to push for that day during a strength component. Guessing is no where near as useful as being able to populate your deadlift 1RM’s over the last year. WODHOPPER provides our members with all their benchmarks right at their finger tips.
The latest release of WODHOPPER is out! This release has a lot of great new features. Most notably though, is WOD tracking and real-time scoreboard. Coaches can enter the daily WOD and set a score type for the WOD. Members enter their scores in WODHOPPER. The scores are then posted in real-time to the gyms site through the WODHOPPER widget. Members can sort via male/female, class times, member name, scores, and RX or scaled. Members can also pull up historical WODs and review old scores. Just another great feature to increase engagement at your gym and drive members to your web site. More awesome features are coming around the corner.
We’re back from the CrossFit Games, still riding high from the positive vibes that dominated the entire weekend. What an incredible experience–the events and vendor area were so well run, which had a great impact on our success. Kudos to the staff and volunteers who helped the weekend run smoothly. And congratulations to all of the athletes. Just getting to the games is an incredible accomplishment! We want to extend a very special congratulations to Greg Major, from Bulldog CrossFit, WODHOPPER founder David King’s brother in law. Greg finished 11th overall in the 55-60 Masters division and is one of the hardest working and fittest men on earth!
The WODHOPPER team demo’d our affiliate management system to more than 70 current or future box owners. We enjoyed an overwhelmingly positive response, most notably to our benchmark tracking, WOD tracking, and real-time leaderboard. WODHOPPER continues to work on enhancements based on the feedback we’ve received.

Newest release of WODHOPPER is out and being tested by our Beta Clients. This release includes benchmark tracking and is the beginning of our daily WOD tracking. Benchmark tracking allows box members to track strength (e.g Back Squat max), endurance (e.g. 500m row time), max reps (e.g. pullups), named WODs (e.g. Fran). Benchmark tracking also includes history and notes. A member can drill down into their deadlift results and see their scores over time as well as make notes. All of this made mobile! Finally you can track results, not excuses! Box owners can easily add their own benchmarks, remove existing benchmarks, or update a benchmark.
